Great Bowerbird (Chlamydera nuchalis) Low Level NT
Canon EOS 40D Lens 100-400mm L IS USM at 400 mm ISO 400 F7.1 1/1000 Fill flash almost full frame 21 September 2009

This Great Bowerbird was busily picking up parts of eucalyptus blooms that had fallen a few feet away and eating them then he moved closer to drink some water. Luckily I had already taken the camera from the car before any of this happened. Taken hand held leaning on car. Low  Level is a few klms towards Western Australia from Katherine NT. Later I will send images of bowerbirds in their bowers displaying plus I will be displaying a section devoted to bowerbirds separate to the images seen here. On this trip I did a series on both the Great Bowerbird and also the Western Bowerbird.
